Japan – Day 1
April 15, 2026This morning we had the opportunity to study with Yonemoto Sensei, although being not too far from his dojo, the journey requires three trains and a short walk.
The lesson focussed on Seiunchin, and once again, the importance of posture and stance for effective application was discussed.
The Kata was practised as a whole then individual moves, to identify the finer points leading to control and manipulation of the opponent.
Taking into account size and strength differences, it was fascinating to understand how minor angle adjustments and the way the body was used for pushing and pulling, allowed a smaller person to disrupt and
overcome the larger, without reliance on physical strength.
As always, we enjoyed a relaxed question and answer session following the physical training and then headed into the city to explore. Looking forward to the next session!
